Eldorado NJROTC defeats Wren NJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Eldorado NJROTC defeated Wren NJROTC 966.2 to 877.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win, Eldorado NJROTC is in tenth place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They currently have a 1 - 3 record. Eldorado NJROTC was led by, James Prunty who shot a 255.9. The remaining contributing members were Isabella Dominguez, Noelani Lopez, and Davin Schneider. Eldorado NJROTC is from Las Vegas, NV, and is coached by Maj Todd Hook.
Wren NJROTC currently has a 1 - 4 record. After the loss they are in ninth place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. Wren NJROTC was led by, Tyler Morrison who shot a 272.3. The remaining contributing members were Gavin Driver, Cadence Whiten, and Andrew Molitor. Wren NJROTC is from Piedmont, SC, and is coached by CDR Kevin Borden, USN (Ret).
Next up Eldorado NJROTC will compete against Smithson Valley NJROTC from Spring Branch, TX. Smithson Valley NJROTC currently has a 3 - 0 record. While Wren NJROTC has a bye week.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
