Carroll County 4-H defeats Appling Bulldogs
Carroll County 4-H defeated Appling Bulldogs 1873 to 1837 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Carroll County 4-H is in fourth place in their Division with a 3 - 3 record. Carroll County 4-H was led by Benjamin McDermitt who shot a 380. The remaining contributing members were Sara Jennings, Lydia Lee, Sierra Brooks, and James Capes. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.
Appling Bulldogs dropped to 1 - 5 on the season. They are currently in sixth place in their Division. Appling Bulldogs was led by Ally Atkinson who shot a 377. The remaining contributing members were Ethan Carter, Susan Carter, Jaylie Clance, and Lane Stanley. Appling Bulldogs is from Baxley, GA, and is coached by Jeffrey McLellan.
Next up Carroll County 4-H will compete against Johnson County 4-H from Shawnee, KS. Johnson County 4-H currently has a 1 - 5 record. Appling Bulldogs will compete against Humboldt Sharpshooters from Hartford, SD. Humboldt Sharpshooters currently has a 2 - 4 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
