Lyon County 4-H defeats Hall County 4-H
Lyon County 4-H defeated Hall County 4-H 1773 to 1743 last week in the National BB Gun League. Lyon County 4-H finishes the season in fifth place in their Division with a 3 - 4 record. Lyon County 4-H was led by Karalyn Karjala who shot a 374. The remaining contributing members were Garland Hanlin, Ava Karcher, Dayne Witherspoon, and Logan Thomas. Lyon County 4-H is from Emporia, KS, and is coached by Trenna Hanlin.
Hall County 4-H dropped to 0 - 7 on the season. They finish the season in eighth place in their Division. Hall County 4-H was led by Haley Freeman who shot a 377. The remaining contributing members were Mack Norris, Mason Eddy, Camilla Griffin, and Fox Browning. Hall County 4-H is from Gainsville, GA, and is coached by Shermon Pass and Jonathan Page.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
