Middletown Marksmen defeats Bend of the River

Middletown Marksmen defeated Bend of the River 1839 to 1805 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their third win in a row, Middletown Marksmen is in second place in their Division with a 3 - 1 record. Middletown Marksmen was led by McKenna Logan who shot a 376. The remaining contributing members were Cadence Logan, Dale Suhr, Nick Suhr, and Ashley Reiglle. Middletown Marksmen is from Middletown, PA, and is coached by Kourtney Morton and Dave Fisher.

Bend of the River dropped to 1 - 4 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Bend of the River was led by Landon Smith who shot a 376. The remaining contributing members were Blake Shepherd, Austin Dallas, Mallory Johnson, and Eli Rich. Bend of the River is from Cookeville, TN, and is coached by Charles Pardue.

Next up Middletown Marksmen will compete against Montgomery County 4-H from Conroe, TX. Montgomery County 4-H currently has a 3 - 2 record. Bend of the River will compete against Hall County 4-H from Gainsville, GA. Hall County 4-H currently has a 0 - 4 record.

These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.

BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
