Carroll County 4-H defeats Homestead 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Carroll County 4-H defeated Homestead 4-H 1963.1 to 1917.9 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Carroll County 4-H is in sixth place in their Division with a 1 - 4 record. Carroll County 4-H was led by James Capes who shot a 403.1. The remaining contributing members were Janna Lee, WIll Hanson, Benjamin McDermitt, and Sarah Bearden. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.
Homestead 4-H dropped to 1 - 4 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Homestead 4-H was led by Colt Dittbrenner who shot a 392.8. The remaining contributing members were Ty Dittbrenner, Emily Rempel, Andrew Enns, and Jaden Guernsey. Homestead 4-H is from Beatrice, NE, and is coached by Mike Jochum.
Next up Carroll County 4-H will compete against Lake County Aces from Madison, SD. Lake County Aces currently has a 2 - 3 record. Homestead 4-H will compete against Forsyth County 4-H from Cumming, GA. Forsyth County 4-H currently has a 3 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
