Norview NJROTC defeats Moberly AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Norview NJROTC defeated Moberly AJROTC 1064 to 1015 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Norview NJROTC finishes the season in third place overall and first place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They finished the season with a 6 - 0 record. Norview NJROTC was led by, Joshua Howe who shot a 273. The remaining contributing members were Mark Chappel, Ruhan Hameed, and Dony Gutierrez . Norview NJROTC is from Norfolk, VA, and is coached by Grant Lewis.
Moberly AJROTC finished the season with a 5 - 2 record. They finishes the season in fourteenth place overall and tenth place within their 'Army Jrotc' conference. Shooting their highest team score of the season Moberly AJROTC was led by, Shelby Noel who shot a 263. The remaining contributing members were Logan Lescoe, Angelina Taylor, and Amber Deling. Moberly AJROTC is from Moberly, MO, and is coached by Dana Lescoe.
Next up Norview NJROTC will compete against Palo Verde Valley AJROTC from Blythe, CA. Palo Verde Valley AJROTC currently has a 2 - 3 record. While Moberly AJROTC has a bye week.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
