Blythewood AJROTC defeats Warren Central MCJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Blythewood AJROTC defeated Warren Central MCJROTC 1030 to 1006 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fourth win in a row. Blythewood AJROTC finishes the season in seventh place overall and fifth place within their 'Army Jrotc' conference. They finished the season with a 6 - 1 record. Blythewood AJROTC was led by, Collin Flores who shot a 269. The remaining contributing members were Faith Mull, Jacob Gavel, and Katelyn Yates. Blythewood AJROTC is from Blythewood, SC, and is coached by LTC Charles White.
Snapping a thre game win streak Warren Central MCJROTC finished the season with a 5 - 1 record. They finishes the season in twenty-first place overall and third place within their 'Marine Corps Jrotc' conference. Shooting their highest team score of the season Warren Central MCJROTC was led by, Cooper Williams who shot a 262. The remaining contributing members were Minh Huynh, Malachi Line, and Mackenzie Boles. Warren Central MCJROTC is from Indianapolis, IN, and is coached by Juan Anorga.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
