Zion Benton NJROTC defeats Ramona NJROTC
Zion Benton NJROTC defeated Ramona NJROTC 2316.7 to 2245.9 in the Sporter Championship Tournament and advances to the semifinals. Zion Benton NJROTC was led by Brayden Rich who shot a 581.6. The remaining contributing members were Brianna Benedetto, Gianna Gomez, Addyson Gustafson, and Lessly Trevino. They currently have a 7 - 0 record, are from Zion, IL, and are coached by Dan Hackstein.
Ramona NJROTC was led by Troy Hedges who shot a 573.1. The remaining contributing members were Wyatt Koerner, Gaby Gomez, Tristan Van Andel, and Gonzalo Calvillo. Ramona NJROTC finishes with a 5 - 2 record, is from Ramona, CA, and is coached by MSgt Allan Snow.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season, followed by the post-season going on now.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 20 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team of 5 athletes.
