Carroll County 4-H Defeats Johnson County 4-H
In an undisputed contest, scoring 1872 points, Carroll County 4-H defeated Johnson County 4-H. Carroll County 4-H finishes the season in fourth place in their Division with a 4 - 3 record. Carroll County 4-H was led by Benjamin McDermitt who shot a 380. The remaining contributing members were Sara Jennings, Lydia Lee, Sierra Brooks, and James Capes. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.
Carroll County 4-H earned one of the two at-large bids to the post season tournament. Based on seasonal average Carroll County 4-H will be seeded fourth in the four team tournament. Their quarter final game this week is against fellow Georgian team Walton County 4-H.
Carroll County 4-H is the defending league champion. In 2016 they won the championship by defeating Humbolt Sharpshooters in the quarter final game and Walton County 4-H in the championship.
Johnson County 4-H dropped to 1 - 6 on the season. They finish the season in seventh place in their Division. Johnson County 4-H is from Shawnee, KS, and is coached by Mike Smith.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
