Washington County 4-H defeats Midland Young Guns
Washington County 4-H defeated Midland Young Guns 1788 to 1354 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Washington County 4-H is in first place in their Division with a 1 - 0 record. Washington County 4-H was led by Macy Hannah who shot a 367. The remaining contributing members were Kale Skogen, Kaleb Barenberg, Nathaniel Hutchens, and Bryson Sams. Washington County 4-H is from Lincoln, AR, and is coached by Joanie Hannah.
Midland Young Guns dropped to 0 - 1 on the season. They are currently in fifth place in their Division. Midland Young Guns was led by Justin Haskin who shot a 281. The remaining contributing members were Simon Bowers, Lucas Bland, Carter Hubbard, and Alyson Battreall. Midland Young Guns is from Midland, TX, and is coached by Kevin Willhite.
Next up Washington County 4-H will compete against Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers from Harrisburg, PA. Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers currently has a 1 - 0 record. Midland Young Guns will compete against Buffalo County 4-H from Kearney, NE. Buffalo County 4-H currently has a 0 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Elite Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
