Pierre Jr Shooters defeats Carroll County 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Pierre Jr Shooters defeated Carroll County 4-H 2005.4 to 1961.3 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their second win in a row, Pierre Jr Shooters is in first place in their Division with a 2 - 0 record. Pierre Jr Shooters was led by Alee Smith who shot a 406.5. The remaining contributing members were Justin Merriman, Wyatt Rose, Jenna Kruger, and Jasmine Hays. Pierre Jr Shooters is from Pierre, SD, and is coached by Sean Kruger.
Uniquely, Pierre Jr Shooters' 2005.4 makes them the first team ever to break the 2000.0 mark in competition. With the introduction of decimal scoring, a more precise method of measuring scores, team scores are now out of a possible 2180.0.
Carroll County 4-H dropped to 0 - 1 on the season. They are currently in fifth place in their Division. Carroll County 4-H was led by James Capes who shot a 402.1. The remaining contributing members were Will Hanson, Sara Jennings, Benjamin McDermitt, and Cody Wood. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.

These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
