Joliet Central AJROTC defeats Hendrickson MCJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Joliet Central AJROTC defeated Hendrickson MCJROTC 987.2 to 942.8 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. Joliet Central AJROTC was led by Heidi Lopez who shot a 263.2. The remaining contributing members were Mya Solorazano, Mia Rosiles, and Saniya Sherrod. They are from Joliet, IL, and are coached by SSG Calvin L. Lee.
Joliet Central AJROTC competed in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in ninth place. Within the Army JROTC Conference they finish in third place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Joliet Central AJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.
Hendrickson MCJROTC was led by Xavier Jimenez who shot a 264.4. The remaining contributing members were Nolan Roldan, Heath Anderson, and Deborah Roberts. Hendrickson MCJROTC is from Pflugerville, TX, and is coached by Hero Aguirre.
Hendrickson MCJROTC also competed in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in twelfth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 4 record.
Next up, Hendrickson MCJROTC will compete in the postseason Elite Division MCJROTC Championship Game. They will face U. S. Grant MCJROTC.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
