Shooting their highest score of the season Davie County AJROTC defeated Creek Wood AJROTC 879.9 to 840.9 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. Davie County AJROTC was led by Gavin Lucus who shot a 231.9. The remaining contributing members were Aidon Burton, Jeremiah Shaffer, and Xander Shinsky. They are from Mocksville, NC, and are coached by 1SG Harold Wolfe.
Davie County AJROTC competed in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in twenty-second place. Within the Army JROTC Conference they finish in eighth place. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 3 record.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
